New England Winters and Your Machinery

Winters in New England are no joke. If you have lived in the area to experience it for yourself, you know how serious the weather can get. This winter season is projected to be slightly warmer than previous years for New England but that does not change how much the cold can affect you and your machine. Between requiring you to pause your current project or holding off on starting anything new, the winter months affect heavy equipment operators heavily.

The cold temperatures can bring a lot of issues to your jobsite and to your machines. From fluids thickening from the cold to rubber pieces freezing, you have to be prepared for almost anything. That is where QFS comes in. Our 24/7 emergency on-site maintenance team has your back. Our team of technicians are prepared to help you, snow or shine, with any problems that may occur.

But how are you able to mitigate your chances of having those major problems occur for your machine, you may ask. Quality Fleet Service, Inc.'s very own Service Manager, Evan Shields, has the steps you should take to do your best to prevent cold weather damage on your machines. A lot of the things you should focus on to prevent problems in winter require you to be proactive and get them inspected before the cold really sets in. We recommend checking your machines batteries and to check your starting and charging systems. These parts of your machine tend to fail more in the cold weather so making sure they are in the best condition will set you up for the highest chance of seeing success through the winter.

We also highly recommend getting your preventative maintenance done, or at least scheduled, before the weather truly becomes chilly. This includes getting your machine inspected, getting your tires checked, having fluid levels topped off, and much more.

Quality Fleet Service, Inc. specializes in service on your heavy machines and we are more than happy to help you in your endeavors to make it through the cold winter months. With over 20 years of experience, our team will make sure that your machine is cared for and in the highest working order. Keys to Snow Removal

The heavy equipment world moves fast. It is hard to know whether what you are thinking of getting is the right machine for your needs. That is where we come in. We would recommend checking out Manitou or Hyundai for your snow clearing endeavors. It all depends on a lot of factors, but we would recommend those two as a starting point. In general, Manitou machines would be great snow clearing machines for smaller areas such as a driveway. The Hyundai loaders would be better suited for street clearing or larger parking lots. The machine you choose is only half the battle. Getting the right attachments for the heavy task of snow removal is also key to your success during the winter months. You have a lot of options when it comes to snow removal attachments. You could get yourself set up with a "V Plow" or a "Straight Plow" for example. You could also get a snow blower or a pusher box. It all depends on what would work best for you and your project.

At QFS, our salesmen are some of the most knowledgeable in the industry. They gained their knowledge in the field as most of them were operators themselves before becoming salesmen at QFS.
